Dr. Saraswathy Battar, with 29 years of service in the Veterans Health Administration, is a dedicated physician leader, constructive difference maker, and effective change agent. As a board-certified physician in geriatrics, hospice, and palliative care, Dr. Battar has positively impacted thousands of veterans through executive leadership and providing exceptional bedside care. Her innovative VIONE methodology for safe medication optimization has received national and international awards. Dr. Battar's contributions extend beyond direct patient care. She spearheaded end-of-life care curricula across 30 VA medical centers and established best practices for communication in healthcare. As the interim Chief of Staff at the Marion, Illinois VA Medical Center, she successfully addressed performance issues through collaboration and effective leadership.
