U.S. DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS

VETERANS HEALTH ADMINISTRATION
Atlanta VA Health Care System

Kathleen O’Loughlin, the Women Veterans Program Manager at the Atlanta VA Medical Center, is dedicated to ensuring equitable, convenient, and effective care for over 25,000 women Veterans. She provides comprehensive access to primary care, gynecology, maternity care, mental health services, and wellness programs.

To address the unique needs of women Veterans, Kathleen implemented initiatives that celebrate, support, and protect them. She organizes baby showers, offers whole health programs for pregnancy loss, and provides post-delivery support. These initiatives create safe spaces and ensure women receive the care they need.

Recognizing the issue of harassment, Kathleen established women-only clinics within VA Medical Centers. These clinics provide a comfortable and secure environment, enhancing accessibility and promoting peace of mind.

Furthermore, Kathleen collaborated with VA Immersive to develop innovative virtual reality (VR) training programs. Using VR as an empathy-based tool, she raises awareness of sexual harassment and promotes behavior change.

Kathleen's impactful work positively affects the public by providing specialized care and fostering a culture of safety and support. With 230 women Veterans celebrated on their motherhood journey and 25,000 women receiving essential healthcare, her dedication has made a lasting difference. Kathleen's commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all Veterans is deserving of recognition.
