General Dynamics Information Technology

Amy Gilliland, President of GDIT, is being honored as the 2026 Industry Executive of the Year for advancing the use of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to make government services faster, more efficient, and more responsive. Through GDIT’s Smart Government capabilities, Amy has helped scale innovative technologies across hundreds of federal programs, translating AI, advanced analytics, cloud, and digital modernization into measurable mission outcomes for the public.
Under her leadership, GDIT teams have deployed hundreds of AI agents to improve federal student aid services, used advanced analytics to strengthen lead-pipe detection and access to safe drinking water, modernized electronic health records for American Indian and Alaska Native communities, and applied AI to reduce Veterans’ claims processing times from more than 140 days to just weeks. At CMS, AI-supported capabilities identify more than $1 billion annually in fraud, waste, and abuse with over 90% accuracy, while a GSA virtual agent now handles approximately one-third of customer inquiries.
Amy has paired technology innovation with significant investment in workforce readiness. More than 5,000 GDIT employees have advanced into new roles through the company’s AI-powered Career Hub, alongside expanded training in AI, cybersecurity, and cloud technologies. By combining emerging technology with workforce development and strong government-industry partnerships, Amy is helping agencies protect taxpayer resources, reduce administrative burdens, and deliver more reliable and effective services to millions of people.
