The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) launched a new flagship mobile app to provide Veterans convenient, seamless, and secure access to their healthcare and benefits information. The team’s work would prove very timely – it began at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic that would impact the lives of so many Veterans and their ability to access in-person VA services. The app brings together previously siloed information about Veterans’ health and benefits into one centralized service available on iOS and Android. The Veteran community needed a mobile app with a personalized experience to make it easier to connect with VA and manage their benefits. The VA mobile app is meeting that need for thousands of Veterans. Through the creation of this app, the VA has provided an incredibly powerful tool to further support Veterans with convenient, easy access to their healthcare information.
The mobile app creates an essential avenue of access for Veterans. Since its July 2021 launch, the app has been downloaded to almost 300,000 devices. In the first quarter of 2022, the app saw 175,000 views of claims and 199,000 mobile logins. The team will continue to refine the app to improve usability and accessibility and add new feature areas. Their roadmap is centered around prioritizing features around a series of core objectives. Ultimately, the team hopes that the flagship app will continue to be an invaluable tool for achieving its intended outcome: that every Veteran can easily manage their key VA health and benefits services through their digital channel of choice.
