FEDERAL RISK AND AUTHORIZATION MANAGEMENT PROGRAM (FedRAMP)

The impact Ryan Hoesing’s work delivery for citizens can best be conveyed by his broader role as Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program’s (FedRAMP) Customer Success Manager at the General Services Administration (GSA). He promotes FedRAMP to help agencies realize that promise and potential by touting the security rigor of NIST security control baselines that the industry must implement and abide by.

 

Through an unprecedented global health crisis, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Ryan strategized with agencies and CSPs to identify ways to acquire secure cloud technology. This directly enabled agencies to successfully transition to remote work, ensuring continuity of service to citizens. He promoted the reuse of FedRAMP Authorized cloud services at speaking engagements and training opportunities. 

 

Ryan facilitated 500+ key meetings between agencies and vendors, which helped them identify the fastest route to FedRAMP Authorization while upholding the rigor of FedRAMP’s security framework. His leadership helped the program generate over 60 Authorizations in FY20, and supported the highest reuse count (the program’s key performance measure) yet. 

 

Today, Ryan continues to grow the program from roughly 20 agencies participating in May 2020 to over 50 participating agencies today. Over the last year, he delivered 6 dedicated training sessions for FedRAMP Liaisons and facilitated 9 meetings overall with the group. 

 

Ryan’s direct impact on the public through the past year can be captured most clearly by the ability of federal agencies to securely transition to remote working environments. His leadership ensured agencies maintained service delivery to citizens over the past year when they needed it most.
