BRIAN J. TOOLAN
Sr. Director, Government Strategy
Director, Business Solutions
Vice President, CEM Business Solutions
Brian Toolan recognized a strong need to get shots in arms quickly during the COVID-19 pandemic. A retired government employee and strong advocate for citizen outreach at Everbridge, he soon realized that supply versus demand would be the initial challenge faced by government agencies once the vaccine became available. He also recognized that outreach to communities, especially the underserved, would be an even bigger challenge. Working with the Everbridge solutions team, he created a comprehensive vaccine scheduling and communication program that instantly met several key challenges government agencies faced.
The registration and appointment system was widely hailed as a positive response to the public health emergency where demand exceeded supply. The states, counties, and organizations leveraging this technology experienced great success in increasing the number of shots in arms, while helping to reduce the outbreaks by vaccinating the most vulnerable. Additionally, these organizations fully leverage the available technology Everbridge provided to keep the community informed, safe, and finally vaccinated.
Brian and his team of technology professionals demonstrated the ability to help the government agencies communicate efficiently and effectively with all citizens within a jurisdiction to achieve a whole community response to the pandemic. By providing unrestricted and widespread access to COVID-19 information across multiple communication vehicles, even the most vulnerable and underserved communities, who might not be technology savvy, were able to receive potentially life-saving information. The team was also able to ensure that senior and vulnerable populations had a quick and easy way to receive information about upcoming vaccination opportunities and were protected against COVID-19 while arranging and attending vaccination appointments.
Brian demonstrated his continued commitment to putting citizens first, as he did during his 25 years of public service in the state government. His heroic efforts led to the creation of a program in which citizens come first in the quest to become vaccinated against COVID-19.
