ARKANSAS GOVERNOR COVID-19 INFORMATION WEBSITE
In response to the global outbreak of COVID-19, Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson’s office developed a website to quickly deliver the most up-to-date information on the pandemic from all state agencies in a single location.
Recognizing the urgent need for a cost-effective and creative solution to get important information to constituents quickly, Governor Hutchinson partnered with NIC Arkansas, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tyler Technologies, to develop the secure website using their GovStatus solution. Designed and cloud-hosted to withstand huge traffic spikes that emergency websites often endure, the GovStatus solution allows for quick deployment and easily customizable content fields.
A mobile responsive design that supports multimedia content ensures that all users have information at their fingertips no matter where they are. Arkansans can also sign up to receive updates via email when new content is added to the site and view the archive of all briefing content.
Among the citizen and business resources, the Arkansas COVID-19 Information website includes the number of confirmed and probable cases, vaccination doses received and distributed, percentage of the immunized population, online screening and COVID-19 testing locations by county, hospital data, COVID unemployment insurance information, and online claim filing, industry-specific and employer guidance, information for schools, executive orders, press releases and video briefings, agency-specific links and U.S and Global information from the CDC and WHO.
Since its launch in March 2020, more than 685,600 new users have visited the Arkansas COVID-19 Information Website to engage in more than 1.27 million sessions with more than 1.55 million page views. Peak visits to the site occurred on March 23, 2020, with more than 36,800 users visiting the site to get the most up-to-date information on the pandemic as it became widespread in the United States.
